Would you be annoyed If your partner worked late on your bday? ?

He did take me away on the weekend but when it's my actual bday during the week and he told me he has to work late till about 8pm because his retail shop is open later that day but I was a bit taken aback as he does have a manager who could do it for him. Am I over reacting?
